ADST 2010 Fourth International Conference

Desalination Technologies and Water Reuse

 May 10 -12 , 2010   Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt

The Conference offers an excellent opportunity for scientists and specialists working in the field to discuss issues related to the various desalination technologies and the potential of water reuse as well as to tackle the different problems facing the process.

ADST (Alexandria University Desalination Studies and Technology Center) is pleased to announce the organization of the ADST2006 International Conference: Desalination Technologies and Water Reuse. The Conference will offer an opportunity for professionals, experts, scientists and researchers in all aspects of water desalination, to discuss issues related to the various desalination technologies and water reuse

  MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

Water shortage and the threat of desertification are among the critical challenges facing many countries on the Southern rim of the Mediterranean, in the Middle East and in the Gulf Region. The crucial issue of filling the gap between water supply and demand is imposing itself in these countries, which in turn would benefit from the various desalination technologies, and possible techniques for water reuse. Accordingly, there is always an ever increasing need to develop and to implement such technologies due to the continuing developments in those areas, which are not only consuming the natural water resources, but also contaminating them. Accordingly, there is a continuous need to develop strategies and long-term plans to face challenges related to the need, design, operation, maintenance, sustainable development and economics of not only desalination technologies, but also of the various possible tracks for water reuse.

To maintain the target of the series of conference organized by ADST, the conference is still targeted at enhancing the cooperation between countries in need of such technologies and those providing the know-how, within the frame of the following objectives:

- To review the current status of the regional needs for desalination, in light of the presently available alternative water resources.

- To evaluate the water requirements for the countries on the Southern rim of the Mediterranean, in the Middle East and in the Gulf Region.

- To present the state of the art and latest developments in desalination technologies and water reuse.

- To report innovations and to discuss future trends of pre-treatment and post-treatment.

- To emphasize on action plans to materialize the pertinent desalination technologies and water reuse patterns locally.

- To present the latest developments in desalination technologies using renewable energy.

- To report the most innovative treatments of water and wastewater using Membrane technologies.
